Peru to celebrate National Cebiche Day on June 28th

With a series of culinary festivals and traditional music performances in Callao, Lima and Huancayo, Peruvians will celebrate their National Cebiche Day for the second time on Sunday, June 28.

On Saturday, June 27, authorities in Callao province will host a food festival offering 3,000 cebiche dishes at Santa Rosa Park in Chucuito.

This event will include dance and music performances by renowned artists as well as “The Best Cebiche in Callao” contest with the participation of several local restaurants.

Meanwhile, the Limean district of Jesus Maria will host another cebiche contest on June 27-28 at Los Proceres Park on Salaverry Avenue (15th block). International chefs Gonzalo Angosto and Adolfo Perret will be the jury for this contest.

In central Peru, Huancayo residents will seek to prepare Peru’s Largest Trout Cebiche at Huamanmarca Square, which will also have music, dancing and attractions for all the family.

National Cebiche Day celebrations aim to promote cebiche as a Peruvian dish worldwide as well as its consumption during unusual hours and seasons.

Last year, Peru’s Production Ministry declared June 28 as National Cebiche Day in a bid to further promote this Peruvian dish nationwide and abroad.
