If you want to discover something very different from the usual cold mountains and ruins of Peru, you might want to visit an oasis in the middle of the desert. Located in Ica province, Huacachina is a small village built around a smaller oasis. This pretty little place is surrounded by sand dunes, where you can take dune buggy rides. These sand dunes stretch several hundred feet high and can seem enormous.
As tourists have discovered this place, it has metamorphosed from being an undiscovered village to something of a resort. Private landowners have begun to dig wells to draw water, and this has resulted in loss of water from the oasis.
Water is replenished through pipes and if you want to discover this place before it stops being the exotic town that it still is, you should probably pack your bags and head towards Huacachina. We had written about Huacachina previously too, and it is always amazing to see how people like places that seem like contradictions to a place. Most people feel that a desert and an oasis do not belong to Peru.
You can start at Ica, a beautiful city by itself. However, Peru is so diverse that you can find all kinds of climates within a single country. Whether you want to visit the polar-like mountains, steamy Amazonian jungles, temperate hills or hot deserts, Peru has it all. It even has a shoreline that is so beautiful, you will be left mesmerized. Contact Karikuy today to discover how we can help you to reach and explore Huacachina and the nearby desert region.
