Day 1
You are scheduled to arrive Lima in the morning where you will then transfer to take your flight to Iquitos. At Iquitos there is a reception at the airport then a brief city orientation and transfer to the Explorama dock. Fifty mile journey down the Amazon River to Yanamono Stream where Explorama Lodge is located. Afternoon hike along the "Lake trail" through lowland rainforest which is seasonally flooded. During the high water season, this excursion is done by open boat! Night walk or open boat ride to enjoy the sounds of the rainforest and stars of the Southern sky.
Day 2
Early morning birding excursion. Morning walk along the "Bushmaster Trail", where scientific studies by the Missouri Botanical Gardens have found the world's highest biodiversity of trees per square hectare. Continue on to visit a small village of Yagua Indians where your guide will explain their culture and how it has been affected by the passing of time. There will be an opportunity to trade for or purchase some of their local crafts and for a demonstration of the use of the blowgun which some of the Yagua elders still use for hunting. Afternoon boating excursion in search of sloth, found in Cecropia trees at the water’s edge, and the two species of freshwater river dolphin, pink and grey, found in Amazonian waters.
Day 3
Early morning departure from the Lodge by boat to the mouth of the Napo River where in 1542, the intrepid explorer Francisco de Orellano, became the first European to discover the Amazon River. Continue on the Napo River to ExplorNapo Lodge for breakfast. Hike to the spectacular Canopy Walkway spanning over 500 meters (one-third of a mile), connected by tree platforms, and reaching a height of over 35 meters (115 feet) but accessible without any type of climbing skill or equipment. After lunch, visit the "ReNuPeRu" Ethnobotanical Garden where over 240 medicinal plants are cultivated by a local shaman who will explain the nature of Amazonian natural healing and the uses of some of the plants. Return to Explorama Lodge in time to relax in the hammock house or at the Tahuampa Bar before dinner.
Day 4
Morning walk along a local Amazon River trail stopping at a "ribereños" house, corner store and sugar cane rum factory. Afternoon return to Iquitos and on to the airport to catch your flight back to Lima. You are then taken on an afternoon City Tour of Lima, you get to visit the Plaza de Armas and National Cathedral as well as nearby museums and The Worlds largest Water Fountain Park (Wed - Sun). The night is yours to explore the city and the nightlife.
Day 5
In the morning you fly to Cusco, the capital city of the ancient Inca Empire. You head out on a tour of the city early in the afternoon. You'll have a chance to visit the Temple of the Sun and the Sacsayhuaman fortress overlooking the city. You'll also visit the main church in the Plaza de Armas, a jaw dropping sight as the interior is covered in gold and silver. At night Cusco lights up and dancing and drinking is the norm.
Day 6
This morning we pick you up from your hotel at 7:30am and take the scenic drive through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We arrive at the town of Ollantaytambo at 10am enjoying the beautiful scenery for about ½ hour. Here you'll have the chance to buy water and snacks for the remainder of the day. Then we continue to travel to Habrá de Málaga, which is located on the top of a mountain (12,948 feet above sea level). After a short break we will begin to walk down towards the jungle passing for the different flats that combine landscapes of majestic snow-capped mountains to the warm jungle.

You then continue to the town of Santa Maria, located at 1575 meters about sea level, and on to Santa Teresa around 2:00 pm, where we will have lunch until 3:45 pm. We leave Sta. Teresa to the Machu Picchu hydroelectric facility at 4:35 pm. You continue by train to Aguas Calientes, arriving around 5:30 pm. Each passenger will be taken to their respective hotel or hostel, during this period of time you will have free time to visit the hot springs in Aguas Calientes. At 8:00 pm. We will enjoy a delicious dinner, during this time your tour guide will give us an explanation about the visit to Machu Picchu.
Day 7
You will have the option to go up to Machu Picchu by bus or by foot. Breakfast will be served from 5:00 am. The guided tour of the site will begin at 6:00 am and will last for at least 2 hours. Afterwards, you will be able to enjoy some free time until approximately 11:30 am, which is the recommended time to begin returning down the mountain to the train station. The train back to the hydroelectric plant will be leaving Aguas Calientes at 12:35 pm.

Upon our arrival to the hydroelectric plant, we will transfer over from the train to a private van, which will take us to Santa Teresa. There, we will have a one hour break for one last chance to get some food or use the restroom before we undertake the final leg of the ride. We will then proceed back to Cusco, returning down the same road that brought us here. We will arrive to Cusco around 9:30 pm (approx). you then have the evening free to toast the night to your final hours in Cusco and Peru.
Day 8
In the morning you board a plane back to Lima. Depending on the hour of your return flight home you have the option to get some last minute shopping in or being driven to the airport to catch your flight home. That concludes The Jungle Adventure. Hope you have fun!
