Efrain Goldenberg Schreiber, or "Efraim," served as Peru's finance minister, foreign relations minister, and prime minister in the 1990s.
Early life
Efraín Goldenberg was born on December 29, 1929, in Lima, Peru, to Jewish parents. He studied in Colegio San Andrés (formerly named as Anglo-Peruvian School).
He studied humanities and law at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima from 1946 to 1952.
Political career
On February 17, 1994, he was sworn in as Prime Minister of Peru, a position that he held until 1995. He was Peru's foreign relations minister prior to this office.
On October 10, 1999, he became Peru's Finance Minister.
Business career
He has had a prominent role in the business community as chairperson of the National Fisheries Society and director of the Fund for the Promoting of Exports.es:Efraín Goldenberg
