Objectives
The goal of PromPeru is to promote responsible and sustainable tourism in Peru. They are working to internationalize and promote a positive image of Peruvian Tourism abroad and among Peruvian residents. They work with both the public and private sectors at local, regional, national and international levels. [1]
- Other functions include:
- Promote tourism of residents within the country
- Raise awareness of tourism in the national population
- Generate relevant tourist information and distribute it through the appropriate channels
- Implement the “National Brand” as a symbol of Peru on a nation and international level
- Advise regional and local governments to enable proper coordination of tourism promotion in each region. Where they can, they aim to leave power with regional and local governments. [2]
Actions
PromPeru organizes and establishes guidelines for activities to promote domestic tourism. They create a calendar every year which includes information about sixteen regional festivals and tourist events. They also organize informational fairs in Lima, and other regions (one in the north, south and central regions of Peru) to promote tourism by informing them of tourism within and outside of their own regions. They have similar fairs at universities to foster interest among younger generations. They also host workshops for tourism professionals, operators, hotels and agencies from different regions to further promote interregional travel possibilities. [3]
