Never go home hungry. One of the first things backpackers learn is that if offered an opportunity while traveling — be it a hidden stretch of untouched beach on the Amalfi Coast, a free bike rental in Amsterdam or food for the road in London — to snatch it up and not think twice. However, after returning to Warren, Michigan, USA in August 2009 after two months backpacking western Europe, I realized that I had violated this code and indeed, come home hungry for more travel. That's how I find myself in Lima, Peru one month later. I'm eager for adventure, for learning new things and for putting my B.A. from Oakland University, which I earned in 2009 with a major in Journalism and a minor in Political Science, to good use.
